Sparkford Art Group

Sparkford Art Group have been running for several years now and we meet on a fortnightly basis on a Wednesday from 2pm to 4pm in Sparkford Village Hall.  Currently we have approximately 25 members with a range of experience from "newbies" to experienced artists. We mainly work in watercolour but everyone is free to work in whatever medium they prefer.  At each session we have a set theme which is normally led by one of our members.  Subject covered recently have been Native Art, Still Life, Life Drawing with a model and landscapes.  Our programme for the Spring term 2010 includes painting snow, action/movement, using pastels, industrial scenes, silhouette and line and wash.

We also have a variety of workshops where we invite local artists to demonstrate and tutor our members.  Recently we have had workshops conducted by Jake Winkle and Kaye Parmenter but we also think "outside the box" with workshops featuring encaustic art and textile landscapes.  We also stage a two day exhibition in the summer featuring members` artwork.

The first meeting after Easter will be on Wednesday, 21st April.  Meetings are held fortnightly between 2.00pm-4.00pm, in the Parish Hall on Wednesday afternoons.  Members pay £2 a session, each session covering a different subject.  Forthcoming items include: 5th May....Talk by Ian Weatherhead; 19th May...All day Pastel Workshop with Richard Turner; Saturday, 3rd July, and Sunday, 4th July...EXHIBITION 11.00am-6.00pm.  New members, especially beginners, are always welcome.  Ring 440475 or just turn up at one of our Wednesday meetings.
